• Item/Commodity: in other words, "what" you will ship

  • Shipping Class: this is the freight class that your product ships under as determined
by the NMFTA ( National Motor Freight Traffic Association). UTS can determine the
appropriate class for you, but you can also provide it to us, if known.

  • Total Weight: the sum of the weight of all the pieces included in your shipment
UTS uses the weight of your shipment to determine the cost of moving your shipment
    over-the-road.

  • Hazardous Materials: these include all combustibles, flammables, solvents, poisons,
radioactive materials, oxidizers, compressed gases, or corrosives. All hazardous materials must
be declared and properly packaged and marked according to DOT rules and regulations

  • Total cubic feet: this is the sum of the length X width X height of all pieces of your shipment
divided by 1728. UTS uses the total cubic feet of your shipment to calculate the price of the ocean
    portion of your shipment,
except in cases when the density rule applies (heavy shipments).
